The logo doesn't have to have the knot pictured in my rough sketch but i want to incorporate a very subtle nautical element into the branding. We are located in a coastal town and we draw inspiration from the ocean. MUST BE KEPT SUBTLE THOUGH PLEASE. The logo doesn’t even have to be an animal or a thing or anything and could just be a design. I kind of want to keep it relatively clean but also am down for vintage styling too.
I am open to different colorways.
I think this guy at Commoner Inc. does cool work. Check it out to see what im saying. http://portfolio.commonerinc.com/ especially his work for The Lower Depths and for Fast Eddies.
The ultimate product line will be out of leather, canvas, linen, wool, and recycled materials etc. The first product for release is going to be a small low profile front pocket style wallet called the “Woods Wallet” which i have attached pictures of.
I am really into the whole resurgence of high quality hand made in America movement http://fuckyeahmadeinusa.tumblr.com/ .
I really dig vintage, also natural raw material aesthetics like brick, reclaimed wood, sand, metal, leather, vintage cloth etc. I like relatively simple stripped down branding elements including clean bold lowercase lettering. But I also like vintage looks too. I am interested in giving thebrand a subtly nautical theme.
For more insight into what I think is cool and what I draw on for inspiration for the brand check out this tumblr site. http://theblackworkshop.tumblr.com/
I want to sell my stuff through these online, and brick and mortar retailers, SO ULTIMATELY THE BRANDING I GO WITH IS GOING TO BE CONSISTENT WITH WHAT YOU FIND ON THESE SITES. Please check them out to get a feel for what I want to get into.
http://shop.ballandbuck.com/ -- This is the #1 target to sell through. They have two locations in boston and they are sick.
http://neaststyle.com/2011/09/13/sa…w-england/ -- This is another place in the south end.
Last but not least, these are some competition but more so they are my main inspiration.
http://barrettalley.com/ --This is the guy I look up to the most. He does sick work and I love his brand. He is legit.
http://makr.com/ -- This is the guy that got me into leather working and making in general from the beginning
I know this is a ton of material but I figured id try to get it all out there off the bat and let you dig through some stuff to get a better idea. Please spend as much time as possible exploring the links i have provided. The more the better. That way we can start off better and wont be searching as much and revising. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
