The D.C. Fly Fishing in Schools program, coordinated by Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region, is a funded project by the District Department of the Environment and partnered with Charles Hart Middle School to serve over 100 students in the seventh grade. The program is unique to Hart Middle School, no other middle school students in Washington D.C. are learning to fly fish as part of their science curriculum! Fly fishing is an often misunderstood activity, one does not have to any prior fishing experience to gain a passion and skills to be a fly fisher. Students spend multiple class periods learning the fundamentals of fly fishing. This includes water quality studies, marcroinvertebrates, and the importance of being responsible while fishing. Students have access to weekend field trips, summer adventures and scholarship opportunities to camps. We know that fly fishing is for everyone, but the students at Charles Hart have showed devotion in experiencing all things fly fishing. It is a combination of sport and science that installs a sense of accomplishment and pride of learning a new skill. Fly fishing is an opportunity to spend time outside to exercise your mind and body.

Estilo do design
We would like the design to be easy to read and not too . It should be an image of a youth fly fishing, with the line travelling down spelling out "DC". The line is attached to a shape that resembles the D.C. city map outline (aerial view). Bonus: Please try to incorporate the major rivers in the map image, the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers. Please see the attached map for reference of the rivers. We do not want it to be too detailed. We do want it to be simple to look at and kid-friendly. Of the attached logos: Develo: We like this style the best, it's easier to read and modern. Plus it incorporates the fly fishing equipment Stonefly maiden: We like that it has words made out of the fishing line. But it's hard to read and a little too detailed and bottom heavy. It's not quite balanced. She's so fly: We like that it's simple, and easy to ready and child-friendly. We don't like the font style. Good luck! We can't wait to see what you come up with!
