District Camera
Our website is/will be a b2c ecommerce related website. Consumers interested in photography equipment is the primary audience, primary the mid-level amateur, semi-professional and professional photographers. The new site we will take a much larger focus in providing rich content to all levels of consumers (where we can provide more insight on what is best based on what type of interest / level in photography someone has. We will also have a much wider array of ways to shop for customers and interactivity … shopping used items, ability for customers to sell their old gear back to us as part of a trade up program … ability to demo a product for a week or whatnot.
The best way to answer this is to not necessarily look at our existing site. We are working towards being on par with best of class sites within our industry. The style of the site really needs to be simplistic and focus on a clean UI. It should be based on fixed with site (ideally center set) with a dimension of 1000px width. Color scheme wise we’d like to keep it with yellows (our logo), grays and black that way the products can be what sells … We do envision calls to action (pre-order, add to cart, etc) to use a bootstrap theme (http://getbootstrap.com/css/#buttons) for all of theme. We will be coding in bootstrap as well. We will also have the options / ability to make extensive use of jquery throughout the site as well.
Our logo & color schemes of the logo –
https://99designs.com/logo-design/c…ntries/168 ** this was the winner for our logo. We have been planning to use the 3rd version of this logo with the yellow background as well as the variations that are part of it.
https://99designs.com/logo-design/c…ntries/166 we also purchased / have access to this version of the logo as well.
We are going to look forward to seeing design ideas for multiple pages: 1 homepage, 1 brand profile page, 1 gallery page, 1 product page. We are most concerned with how the nav / subnav (header) and footer will be presented and give all of the options which we will need to portray. Sell your gear, buy used gear, all of the regular primary category links for shopping, demo/try it before buy it program, gov / edu programs, workshops and videos.
