Most websites that sell these kind of products are ugly looking, so don't look at the competitors. Have a look at the (ugly) wireframe that I made and go to your own imagination - if you worked for a company and were asked to find good priced USB memory sticks with the company logo - what design would attract you and how would you like the browsing experience to be? Have a look at the wireframe to see what features we are thinking about having - but it is not a "request", rather our ideas of a good setup of the website. Also - remember that all our clients have quick broadband connections, therefore loading speed is not a big issue here.

The site is a dedicated informational page about our USB memory sticks, with a lot of information about the products. The design should show that we are a professional and trustworthy company (founded in 1986) but we definately want this design to show the beauty in the products. We do not want a "corporate" website, but a nice looking "designed" website that gives the buyer a "crave" for our products. We don't want the design to look cheap, but we are actually the company with the lowest prices in scandinavia and this has to be expressed somehow, but not through a cheap looking design. The most important thing is the front page.There we want all our products to be listed with some basic information, as we want all our products in the product portfolio to be easy to find. Also we want to give basic information about the products already on the front page so that the potential buyer can take a basic descision about the products without having to click around. We do not want the potential customer to have to browse around a lot on the page in order to find what he/she likes, but when he/she has found a nice product - more information should be accessible by clicking the product. All photographs of the memory sticks will be on white background, so the background of the small and large images must work with white background. We also want one sub page layout with more information about the product, access to more pictures and video/videos about it. The phone number and email adress should be very easy to access as this is the preferred way clients likes to communicate about this kind of products. When the website design is finished, we will setup another competition for creating a logo for the website. But we also want the company logo (Willstedt Trading AB) to be visible on the site (have a look at the wireframe). The company logo is attached (but this will not be the main logo for this website). We would like the page to be accessible in three different languages; english, swedish and norwegian - but we also want to easily update with more lanugages. The AAA credit rating is a good USP and should be visible on the website. SEO is important, as 99% of our clients finds us through the search engines. Therefore - product name is important to show already in the product list of the front page. Also information about USB memory sticks needs to be on the front page as this is the page where we want people to land when they find our site. The information about USB memory sticks is not very important as most clients already know what the product is about.
The target group for the web site are people working in the PR/marketing department of mid sized and large companies. They generally want a "quick buy" - this is not (even if we would like it to be) a type of product you fall in love with and spend hours on researching. The buyers want us to be professional, trustworthy, quick and cheap.
