We design & sell fun, fashionable, light-up accessories primarily to girls/women ages 6-35. Retail & wholesale; worldwide (although currently 90% US sales).
Glowbys fiber optic hair lights are our current flagship product; also several other light-up party supplies & accessories. We will be launching a new, super-bright headband/bracelet/necklace product this Halloween, although it's currently too early to include specific product details on the website. We do anticipate that the new product will rival or surpass Glowbys in popularity.

Theme should be like our products - bright, colorful & fun, yet fashionable. Our current site was created in 2008 and is very outdated.

1) Template - General, site-wide template. Horizontal menus strongly preferred, although vertical dropdowns OK for products.
Note that we operate a hosted site/shopping cart from Fortune3. Examples of standard Fortune3 templates include: http://www.pacificsalmontrollers.net and http://www.naturalab.com, which are only mentioned as references; it's not necessary to closely follow these template formats, although it would make development easier/cheaper for us.
2) Home page - introduce our company and featured products; reinforce the company message/impression.
Slide show? Allow for varying images/message based on holiday (Halloween, St Patrick's Day, 4th of July, etc)
3) Product page - Glowbys; Clearly illustrate the positive product aspects; encourage customer to order & make as easy as possible to order. For example, an improved/prominent add-to-cart button; should be in proximity to "Product Rating".
Note that product image backgrounds are typically black/dark.

Our plan is to then adapt the Glowbys product page layout to our other products.
Luminence develops all our own products. We invented the first-ever fiber optic hair extensions (Glowbys) in 2004, developed the market, and have sold over a million units. Despite our patents, trademark and copyrighted images, our biggest problem now comes from cheap knockoffs - due to both sales competition and brand confusion. We're trying to position ourselves as the original and most reliable manufacturer, with the best & brightest product.
The site layout should be mobile-friendly, allowing for fast upload. Part of the decision process will include preliminary site performance testing.
We intend to use the same/similar site template/theme for both retail and wholesale (either same site with login, or completely separate wholesale site as currently at http://www.luminence.us).
