:format(webp)/99designs-contests-attachments/164/164652/attachment_164652548 "Client: Keith Gave – Best-selling author of The Russian Five
Designed the complete visual identity for the memoir WHY ME, LORD?, including the front cover, hardcover dust jacket, spine, and eBook edition. The concept combines a contemplative lakeside sunrise with elegant typography to reflect the author's deeply personal journey of resilience, faith, and self-reflection.
The project involved extensive collaboration with the author throughout multiple refinement stages, balancing emotional storytelling with commercial appeal and professional publishing standards. Deliverables included fully layered production files, print-ready artwork, typography specifications, and hardcover layout prepared for publication.
The final design was selected as the winning entry in an international 99designs contest and received outstanding client feedback for both the creative execution and the collaborative design process.")
:format(webp)/99designs-contests-attachments/164/164671/attachment_164671876 "TORN is a premium editorial Christian book cover concept inspired by the symbolic tearing of the Temple veil. A richly textured burgundy veil is dramatically torn to reveal a subtle glimpse of the Holy of Holies, where the Ark of the Covenant is intentionally kept partially hidden to preserve mystery and reverence. The composition balances cinematic lighting, authentic biblical-inspired ornamentation, refined metallic typography, and restrained color to create a timeless, high-end editorial aesthetic. Special attention was given to the historical-inspired design of the Ark's cherubim, temple architecture, and sacred decorative motifs, while emphasizing visual storytelling, hierarchy, and negative space for maximum impact in both print and thumbnail formats.")

The symbol merges the letter S, fabric folds, and subtle quilting references into a minimal icon designed for embroidery, storefront signage, labels, and digital use. The goal was to create a distinctive mark that feels elegant, memorable, and scalable across all brand touchpoints.")
:format(webp)/99designs-contests-attachments/164/164455/attachment_164455015 "The concept was developed to communicate resilience, restoration, and practical transformation in a way that is immediate, elegant, and memorable at both full size and Amazon thumbnail scale.")
:format(webp)/99designs-contests-attachments/164/164452/attachment_164452507 "This concept explores trauma as a process of both fracture and reconstruction through a single symbolic image. A resilient tree grows from deeply cracked earth while its roots actively weave through and reconnect the broken ground, illustrating that healing is not passive—it requires intentional work.
The design balances emotional depth with a clean, premium nonfiction aesthetic. Warm natural lighting, earthy textures, and subtle golden repair details reinforce the idea that growth emerges through adversity rather than despite it. The typography is intentionally bold and highly legible, allowing the title to remain the primary focal point while the visual metaphor unfolds beneath it.")
:format(webp)/99designs-contests-attachments/164/164363/attachment_164363250 "This concept was created for a nonfiction book focused on confidence, healing, and self-rediscovery for women over 50. Rather than illustrating a literal journey, I developed a symbolic visual narrative using double exposure, where the doorway exists within the woman herself—representing the path back to her authentic identity.
The composition combines a warm ivory palette, elegant typography, soft botanical elements, and a glowing pathway contained within a heart-centered keyhole. Every design decision was made to evoke hope, peace, and transformation while maintaining the clean, sophisticated aesthetic of a traditionally published bestseller.
The typography was custom designed with metallic gold gradients and embossed detailing to reinforce the premium editorial feel. The result is a timeless cover that communicates emotional depth through simplicity rather than visual complexity.")

:format(webp)/99designs-contests-attachments/164/164354/attachment_164354094 "This concept was created for an epic fantasy novel, focusing on cinematic storytelling and premium fantasy publishing aesthetics. The composition places five uniquely equipped heroes in a rear-view perspective as they face an ancient dragon towering over a besieged fortress. Dynamic leading lines, atmospheric lighting, and a dramatic sense of scale guide the viewer's eye from the characters to the dragon, emphasizing the overwhelming odds they must face.
The typography was custom-designed to blend seamlessly with the environment, featuring metallic silver lettering infused with magical purple energy and subtle fire effects. The overall palette combines deep violets, blue magic, and volcanic orange to create a striking contrast while maintaining a cohesive cinematic mood. Every element was crafted to evoke the feeling of a modern bestselling fantasy novel with immersive world-building and high-end publisher quality.")

The design tells a visual story where a futuristic scanner transforms a hand-drawn gorilla into a fully realized movie hero, symbolizing the journey from an idea on paper to reality.
The composition blends sketch illustration with premium cinematic rendering, using the scanner beam as the central storytelling device. Every element was designed to support the narrative, including the film crew, Perth Film Studios, city skyline, drones, helicopter, movie lighting, and production props, creating the atmosphere of a live movie set.
The project also includes a fully designed back cover, spine, and wrap-around layout, maintaining the same visual language throughout. All artwork was prepared in high resolution with layered assets for maximum flexibility across print and promotional materials.")

"Gina is doing an absolutely fabulous job creating the cover, dust cover and eBook cover. I am thrilled not only with her design skills but her attention to detail and her tremendous communication skills throughout the entire process. I could not have asked for better.
Also, I want to commend all the other designers who have submitted their work for my review. It was an incredibly challenging process, choosing six finalists and the eventual winner. Thanks to ALL of them.
This is my fourth cover created by 99designs, and I'm proud of them all. Not certain if I have any more books left in me, but if I do I will not hesitate to return for another cover design.
My best to all at 99designs.

"This designer truly captured the spirit of the main character of my story. Great sensitivity was needed to express the life situation of this child's story in this fantasy genre. I needed extra marketing art and the work was nothing short of stunning. This took great patience and insight on the part of the artist. I will be eager to pursue more work in the future based on this concept. "
